One thing I've learned or changed with my technique is to first take my time. Drawing for me, used to be a 'one-sitting' ordeal, which would take a few hours at most. I've learned that art takes time. You can't rush it. This idea has definitely changed my art, and I now have more confidence in myself and my abilities. I know that if I don't get it right, I can just erase and redo it until I do get it right.
As of right now, I am not good enough to come up with my own pieces, so I am looking at comic books, trading cards, pictures online to look at their artwork, follow them, study them, to understand angles, shading, colors, tones, dimensions and many other things as well. I am not copying them 1:1, but using one piece of art as a guideline or reference and pulling in details of other pieces and elements or techniques from other artists. Hopefully by doing this, I can slowly build up my confidence, my skill and eventually my own style.
